Gerald Pham-Van-Diep Director of Advanced Development
Gerald has 18 years experience in experimental research in the fields of laser diagnostics in nonequilibrium chemically reacting hypersonic flows, and controlled metal deposition using continuous molten metal jets. While at the University of Southern California, he developed a hypersonic wind tunnel operating on pure iodine and a pulsed laser induced fluorescence technique to probe chemically reacting flows. He also investigated the feasibility of generating multiple streams of low vapor pressure oils in a micro-gravity environment and developed a source of mono-energetic oxygen atoms for true low-Earth orbit simulations. In addition, Dr. Pham-Van-Diep has multiple publications in the fields of experimental nonequilibrium flows and the validation of the Direct Simulation Monte Carlo technique. At NASA JPL, he performed velocity measurements of hydrogen atoms in a 30 kW ammonia arc-jet plume. At Rapid Analysis and Development Co. he developed a techniques for rapidly depositing micro solder spheres on Direct Chip Attach components using the Continuous Solder Jet Fly-Through Printing technique. He currently is the Director of Advanced Developments for Speedline Technologies.
Gerald has a B.S. and a Ph.D. in Aerospace engineering from the University of Southern California.
